Matt was tilling the garden, and I was mowing. I filled one of the huge outdoor trash sacks with grass and began trying to drag it across the yard to the driveway.
Let me get that, said Matt.
I kept dragging the sack, thinking, I’m a strong, capable woman. I’ve got this.
I heard from the garden, sternly this time, Let me get that.
I sheepishly stopped and said, Okay.
This is what we do in marriage and with God. We make a vow of submission, gladly giving our lives over to intense love, strength, and care. Then we struggle with everything, trying to handle it on our own.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)
