Your Life, God’s Imagination

Decades ago I sat in my middle school library and breathed out a simple prayer, Lord, I wish someday I could write Bible studies for people.

At the time it seemed a ridiculously impossible dream. I thought only a few people turn into those famous writers, and I seriously doubted I would ever be one of them.

But I so badly wanted to write Bible studies for people.

That prayer was in the early 1980s when there was no internet. (Do some of you remember life with no internet? When the library had card catalogues with actually paper in them and the names of books to look up?)

My middle school brain could not imagine an “internet”.

I could not imagine a “website” or a “blog”.

I could not imagine the phrase “free download”.

Well, now I’m 40, and I have written two Bible studies you can download for free from my website.

Paul says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory…” (Ephesians 3:20 NIV)

Do you know why God can do more than we ask or imagine? In large part because he can imagine more.

It may not be as impossible as you think.

Keep praying.

Keep putting that desire before the Lord, and let his imagination take it from there.
