Your Brain as a Search Engine

I recently heard a story about a team of Christians on mission who went into a country where bringing in Bibles was illegal. Together they memorized the New Testament so they could take it across the border with them. Can you imagine having that much truth stored up?

Your brain is a search engine, and it can only pull up what you’ve put into it.

  • When you type in the word “money stress”, how many Bible verses come to mind?
  • When you type in the word “forgiveness”, how many Bible verses come to mind?
  • When you type in the word “personal value”, how many Bible verses come to mind?
  • When you type in the word “anxiety”, how many Bible verses come to mind?
  • When you type in the word “hope”, how many Bible verses come to mind?

The more Scripture we purposefully memorize on a daily basis, the more help we have available when we need it.

“Oh how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.” (Psalm 119:97-99 NIV)

(Isn’t it annoying when you Google something and the information you need isn’t there?)
