You Wonder How It Will Turn Out

No need to worry about how things will turn out. -christyfitzwater.com

Matt smiles at that romantic part of the show, when the girl is anxious about if she’ll be safe and the guy says, I got you. I got you, girl.

He always turns to me, works up a good smoulder with the eyes, and says the same words.

I got you. I got you, girl.

It’s silly.

But it makes me a bit weak at the knees.

He preached it Saturday night, minus the ham.

What does God call himself in this passage? he said.

These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.  (Revelation 2:8  NIV)

Jesus is the Last.

That preacher man of mine said Jesus is patting his chest and saying, Trust me.

I got you.

Jesus is the Last word, the final word on how everything will turn out.

So whatever it is you’re worried about?

Relax.

Our pastor told a story yesterday about a family forced to evacuate their home in the middle of the night because their house was on fire. Once outside, the father turned around only to realize that one of the children had returned to the house for a favorite toy. He heard the child calling from the second story window…smoke billowing all around…”Daddy, Where are you?” The father instructed, “Jump! I’ll catch you.” The child said, “Daddy I can’t see you!” The father replied, “But I can see you, and that’s all that matters.”

That story will stay with me the rest of my life. Even when times are difficult and we have trouble seeing God…Our Father tells us that he can see us and he’s “got us”.
