A Happy Announcement for Your Day

The sky pushed in dark and low, causing us to turn house lights on in midafternoon, and I got my hopes up that we might see the first snow of winter. But no –only a drizzly rain. Sigh.

I sweet talked that man of mine into driving me to Costco for some chicken. On the way, he said, If only it were a few degrees colder, we would have snow.

Then we drove up a hill, and he said, I think that was a snowflake.

Nah, just looks like rain to me, I said.

No, that was a snowflake. Look.

Rain trying hard to be snow.

So we shopped at Costco and saw everybody we know there, like we usually do. (Is your Costco like that? A town square?) Pulling out the receipt to make our exit from the store, we saw a little girl, maybe six years old, wearing long striped stockings and bright colors.

She leaned forward on her toes and yelled, Grandma, look! It’s snowing!

Sure enough. Out those wide Costco doors we saw the white flakes coming down, and all the more special being heralded by a child.

Matt and I smiled at each other.

When something wonderful is happening, somebody should stand on tip toes and yell it. Just so happens I bought myself some of those long stockings at T.J. Maxx yesterday. They’re plain ole brown, but I’m putting them on this morning so I can holler for all of us.

Jesus is perfecting us!

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent.” (Isaiah 55:10 NIV)

Jesus is the very word of God, accumulating inch after inch inside our hearts.

Announcing good news for your soul. -christyfitzwater.com

On this Monday morning I want to be the one to say, Look!

Beautiful isn’t it? What he’s doing inside of us?
